It’s tempting to toot your own horn, but it’s far more effective when someone else does the trumpeting for you. When it comes to expanding your company’s reach and client list, you can’t beat a sincere, yet complimentary testimonial. Add another tool to your business toolbox and learn how to grow your business with testimonials. Knowing how to ask for them and when to use these good reviews will get the greatest impact.
Start by inspiring your customers to give up a few minutes to review your business. This exercise will involve some social media work upfront, but it’s a sacrifice that will pay dividends down the road. Make sure you’ve got a public face on social media sites like:
LinkedIn: Spend some time creating a LinkedIn business profile and commit to review it daily. It must look professional, but personable. Connect with others and join groups that relate to your industry to build credibility. Regularly post tips or even tidbits of advice on how to use your products or services.
Facebook: Adjust your Facebook settings to allow comments on posts. Sure, you’ll get some spam, but receiving good reviews will make it all worthwhile. Regularly request testimonials on your page and encourage customers to share their experience.
Your website: If you don’t already have one, add a testimonial page to your website. They should be clearly visible for review by potential and current customers. Reach out to customers and request testimonials–video or written. A kindly worded email asking for feedback could be all you need. Also, consider using a survey to get a picture of how well you’re doing. Remember, the most effective testimonials are real ones. Paying for reviews isn’t the way to go. It should be genuine!
Plan to implement testimonials in your marketing activities. When appropriate, ask customers to provide a personal photo to publish with the testimonial. A good photo of a real person adds additional credibility to the testimonial. A photo could tip the decision in your favor! Testimonials are valuable tools for business, but you have to know when to use them. Start collecting good reviews today!
Remember, running a business successfully does not need to be complicated. Keep it simple!
