Business Advice: Encourage Interaction, Conversation, and Innovation

A work environment where employees are intimidated, scared to voice opinions, or do not feel involved with the decisions being made within the company, is a bad work environment. So, how do you encourage interaction, conversation, and innovation within your company? Here is some business advice to help:

Give compliments when and where they are due. When someone goes above and beyond, when someone does a good job, or when someone has a good idea be sure to compliment those things. Recognizing and rewarding good ideas and creativity is the best way to encourage more innovation within the company.

Set Aside time for Creativity, Experiments, and Innovation

Most employees do not want to take the time to try new things or experiment – they want to go about their work and make it through the day with little to no struggle. This is why it is so important to set aside time for creativity and experiments; even a simple ten minutes at the beginning of each work day can help. Set aside time and have a meeting where you encourage new ideas and experiments each day – also having a set time for employees to report on their experiments will help you recognize and encourage good ideas.

Be an Example of Interaction and Conversation

Go around and talk to everyone in your company. Talk about what they think of their job and ask them how they think they could improve productivity. Being an example of interaction and conversation will help employees feel comfortable bringing up creative new ideas that can benefit the company.

Remember, running a business successfully does not need to be complicated.  Keep it simple!
